Pope Francis has designated the 33rd Sunday of the Year, that is the Sunday before the Feast of Christ the King, as the World Day of the Poor.
In 2021 it was Sunday 14th November. As in previous years this day was an opportunity for us as parish communities to focus on local initiatives which reach out to the poor, and to offer them our ongoing support.
The World Day of the Poor reminds us that every day should be a day in which we make a preferential option for the poor.
In particular we use this day to remind us of the work of our local Foodbanks, including the Machars Churches Together Foodbank, and the Stewartry Churches Together Foodbank, which we support weekly with our donations.
